Down East on Nelson Island
Published in Hardcover by Pentland Press, Inc. (01 May, 2002)
Author: Karen E. Dodd
Average review score:

Rings true!
Yesterday I received Karen's "Down Home on Nelson Island" from Amazon. Last night I sat down and read the whole book (147 pages) in one sitting. She has done an outstanding job in capturing the 'flavor' of life on the Outer Banks. Her fictional characters ring true. I've known real-life counterparts to her "Arthur Austin", "Rachel", and "Sarah". What a wonderful warm-hearted antidote for the stress that surrounds us just about everywhere.

Outer Banks
If you have not visited the Outer Banks in North Carolina, Karen Dodd's book is so descriptive that you will feel you are there. She explores the relationship between a grandfather and granddaughter and how it grows during the granddaughter's summer visit to Nelson Island. This is a "feel good" book that I enjoyed and, I believe, other readers would also.

The Dragon Reborn
Published in Paperback by Dragon Moon Press (16 April, 2002)
Author: Kathleen H. Nelson
Average review score:

Great Sequel
An excellent sequel to an excellent story. With "The Dragon Reborn", Kathleen H. Nelson continues the adventures of Lathwi, the sorceress who was raised as a dragon. The gypsies play a more prominent role in this story, as does Pawl, the swordmaster of Compara. Other old friends pop up in the most unexpected ways and places. The antagonist, Seth, is a more complex villain than his predecessor, Malcolm Blackheart. And Taziem takes a stab at being human.
"The Dragon Reborn" is filled with magic, humor, and of course, dragons. It is sexier than "Daughter of Dragons", but still PG.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. You will, too.

Captivating!
Dragon Reborn does more than continue the adventures of Lathwi; it captures the reader and takes them for a magic-carpet ride! I laughed, cried, squirmed in my seat and cried out warnings as I turned the pages of this wonderful work. This story truly has a life of its own, and evolves of its own accord. I closed the cover a little sad for it being over!

This book pulled at my heartstrings from the very first page, like no other book has been able to accomplish. I was unable to tear myself away from Stephen's incredible stories; making me feel like I was almost a part of his life. A superb book for all ages to enjoy, full of inspiration & the joys of the Miracle of Life.

Authors: Leslie J. Degroot, George F. Cahill, and Don H. Nelson
Average review score:

The best book about Endocrinology
You don`t need that I recomend this book because it is the classic text in endocrinology and related books. I am sure you will Enjoy this masterpiece fron the first page. If you dont want to read complety, it is a revision book in the clinic, house or office. Buy it and you rememberme always.

GOOD TEXTBOOK -- MUST HAVE FOR THE PRACTICING ENDOCRINOLOGIS
As a practicing endocrinologist in New York, i have found this book to be very useful. The text explores all areas of endocrinology in great detail and is an excellent board review tool. There are many diagrams. The section on gestational diabetes is especially well written. I saved over $100 dollars by purchasing this book through Amazon as opposed to buying it from my local university bookstore. A multi volume edition would be a good thing to have as this is a very big heavy book.

Excel 2002 from A to Z: A Quick Reference of More Than 300 Microsoft Excel Tasks, Terms and Tricks
Published in Paperback by Redmond Technology Press (15 June, 2001)
Author: Stephen L. Nelson
Average review score:

Professional Certification Magazine Review
Perhaps the most handy reference collection we have seen come through our ProCert Labs, Stephen L. Nelson's From A To Z collection of quick reference guides really hits the spot. If you are using a Microsoft Office product (and if you are not: its time you bought yourself a computer), this handy reference guide will prove indispensable.

Stephen L. Nelson has been writing quick reference guides for some time now, and it shows in this series. Organized alphabetically, each guide excludes an index because, after all, it is one. The navigation is easy and gets right to the point. I looked up "Selecting Text" and learned that there are six different ways to do so. I discovered each of the six ways in less than half a page; a testament to the concise and straightforward instruction in store for every reader.

And don't let me fool you; the information available in each guide addresses the complex as well as the mundane. You will find quick reference tidbits on everything from Autoformatting (a bane to every Word user) to managing Text Formulas in Excel (which most of us would use if we knew they existed.)

For you Access jockeys, having the Access 2002 From A To Z quick reference at hand will make Applying Filters as easy as cooking with Ron Popeil. The finer points of PowerPoint are described in understandable detail, and if you are looking to quell your questions about Outlook, you will find them the fastest in this quick reference.

Bonus Situation: MOUS

Aside from being a valuable desktop reference, each quick reference guide includes information about passing the Microsoft Office User Specialist exam, and promises that the guide includes all the information you will need to pass the test. Our quick review confirmed this, making these books an excellent choice for those of you who are working toward MOUS certification.

The current series of quick reference guides includes:

Word 2002 From A To Z
Excel 2002 From A To Z
PowerPoint 2002 From A To Z
Access 2002 From A To Z
Outlook 2002 From A To Z
Windows 2002 From A To Z
Each quick reference is about 200 pages, with the exception of the Windows XP quick reference, which tops out at 250. Under twelve bucks apiece, you can't miss with any one of the From A To Z quick references from Redmond Technologies Press. Each book individually provides excellent coverage of every function of its technology, and the entire collection represents a comprehensive must have for anyone who relies on the MS Office suite for advanced productivity.

The Author Comments
I got the idea to do this book (and the other "From A to Z" guides) when my longtime publisher Microsoft Press decided not to continue publishing my Field Guides and Pocket Guides series. Those books, which sold more than 1.5 million copies, were really popular... but didn't make the publisher as much money as other more expensive books. Redmond Technology Press, fortunately, was happy to publish new, updated, improved A to Z style references... and that's how the "From A to Z" series and the Excel 2002 From A to Z book come to be.
I should explain a couple of important points about the Excel A to Z book. First, it uses an alphabetical organization so you would not sit down and read this book like you might read a novel or a regular computer book. Rather, you look up an Excel task or term in the same way that you might look up a word's definition in a dictionary or an article in an encyclopedia. Second, these books are really targeted at the beginning and intermediate user. An A to Z guide, like the Excel From A to Z book, probably covers much of the same ground, for example, as a Dummies book, a Complete Idiots Guide, or a Step by Step book (except in that alphabetical format of course). But an A to Z guide can't cover as much information, obviously, as a 1000-page computer book. (Okay, you'll be surprised by how much ground I do cover in this book, but there is a limit as to what you can do in a 200pp book--even if one is extremely efficient.)

P.S. Amazon.com requires that I post a "star" rating of this book. I feel kind of sheepish about giving my own book a five-star review, but it really is a good book-better even than all those Field Guides and Pocket Guides I did for Microsoft Press for all those years.

Extreme Encounters
Published in Paperback by Nelson Bibles (01 November, 2000)
Author: Thomas Nelson Publishers
Average review score:

Extreme Encounters = Supreme!
The author of this book takes a uniquely different approach to putting together a collection of daily biblical devotions. This is an excellent book for young adults because it speaks to them from the extreme point that many find themselves in and then provides a scripture reference. The book is outlined for daily reading, but offers an alphabetical subject index for those who can't commit to daily reading.

Best Devo for around!
This is a great devotional for teens. It's written like we talk. Topics like chat rooms and extreme sports make it totally not boring. I really recommend it if you are looking for a new devotional.

Families Valued: Parenting and Politics for the Good of All Children
Published in Paperback by Friendship Press (November, 1998)
Author: Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer
Average review score:

An eye opening look at parenthood and our society
Jack Nelson Pallmeyer's book could have been written in 2001 as he is dead on target on what's happening in the political scene and our society today. I couldn't think of a better book for both parents and anyone wanting to take a closer look at where "we" are at as a country. This is information that you're most likely not going to read about in mainstream publications. It's changed the way I look at parenting and deserves more than five stars!

A wonderful look at US values
Nelson-Pallmayer paints an accurate picture of the state of affairs of the American family and offers ideas for improving our Nation for the good of all families.

The Far Side of Nowhere
Published in Hardcover by Arkham House Pub (March, 2002)
Author: Nelson Slade Bond
Average review score:

Romances, inventions, & intrigue
Nelson Bond is a wizard at creating bizarre, unusual story lines which excel in the unexpected, and his original stories comprising Far Side Of Nowhere, provide some unusual scenarios; from supernatural forces to wizards and magic. Romances, inventions, intrigue: all the stuff of thrilling fantasy and ordinary individuals caught in unbelievable worlds comes to life.

Ranging in mood from horror to heroic fantasy
The Far Side Of Nowhere is an impressively presented anthology of the sometimes bizarrely twisted, sometimes darkly imaged, and always captivating fantasy and science fiction stories of Nelson Bond. A master at skewing reality just enough to see a mirror glimpse of the secret dreams that lie beneath the humdrum, ordinary surface of daily life, Bond is a demonstrably talented writer who has clearly mastered the storytelling craft. Ranging in mood from horror to heroic fantasy, these stories are as evocative and engaging as they are striking and memorable.

The Father

Fadren -- Fadrentastic!

Naturalistic fiction has never been so stripped,
a choking ibsenomaic portion;
precocial nautch that grows as it goes.
Strindberg's stronger wiccecræft stronger.

Father, a masterpiece...
After writing the Red Room and several other wonderful books, Father is really one of Strindberg's most fantastic work. It is stunning how a person can describe human beings in the way Strindberg does, or did, since he past away over 80 years ago... Just buy it and read it.
